Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goats
Nigerian Dwarf Goats have the highest milk fat of all the dairy goat breeds. It comes in at a whopping 6-7% in comparison to a dairy cow at 4%. This makes Nigerian Dwarfs ideal for soap and cheese making. Smaller amounts of milk yield larger amounts of cheese. On average 4 does in milk can produce 2 gallons per day. 2 gallons of milk can yield 3 pounds of cheese. That’s a potential 84 pounds of cheese per month! Nigerian Dwarf milk does not have a “goaty” flavor like commercial brands when chilled immediately. It rivals the flavor of cows milk and is preferred by many.
Nigerian Dwarf Goats make good outdoor pets and are safe livestock for kids. Keep in mind that they are lively animals that jump high, beg for food, and are vocal when separated from the herd. Dam (mother) raised babies make less noise and seem more independent over bottle fed babies. Mini Goats need protection from coyotes and predators at night.
Goats are social animals (that’s what makes them so cuddly) so its inhumane to own just one. Therefore, we sell in pairs unless you can show that you have one or more goats. We do reserve the right to refuse a sale.
Do you want a bottle baby?
Our nigerian dwarf goats are ADGA registered. We have calm, friendly animals. We believe in kids being raised by their mothers on real teats. Our babies are handled with love daily so they are friendly. We’ll bottle train if desired before pick up at 12 weeks. They are herbally dewormed and disbudded. Wethers (castrated males) are best for companion/pets as doelings are in high demand for milking. Our spoiled goats are fed alfalfa hay, black sunflower seeds for shiny coats, and Deraferm Minerals. We rotate in Celtic sea salt, hand mixed molasses, whole Brazil nuts, chopped carrot, mango skins, watermelon, banana peels, and oats for a treat!
